Cloud Sync

Cloud Sync is a Pro feature that lets you synchronize your CueCapture settings and preferences across multiple devices. Your app configuration follows you everywhere.

What Syncs

Cloud Sync keeps these settings consistent across devices:

Preferences

  • Theme and appearance
  • Widget size and position
  • Default filters
  • Keyboard shortcuts

Database Config

  • Notion database connections
  • Property mappings
  • Status configurations
  • Sync settings

  • Enabled features
  • Time tracking preferences
  • Voice assistant config
  • Matrix settings

Custom Data

  • Custom status presets
  • Saved filters
  • Quick-add templates
  • Favorite projects

What Doesn’t Sync

Some things stay local by design:

  • Notion API Key - Never leaves your device
  • Local database cache - Rebuilt from Notion on each device
  • Window position - Different screens have different setups
  • System-specific settings - Paths, permissions, etc.

Getting Started

  1. Subscribe to Pro

    Cloud Sync requires a CueCapture Plus, Pro, or Lifetime subscription. View pricing →

  2. Sign In

    • Open Settings → Cloud Sync
    • Click “Sign In”
    • Sign in with Google, GitHub, or email
    • Accept the permissions

  3. Enable Cloud Sync

    • Toggle “Enable Cloud Sync”
    • Your settings upload immediately

  4. Set Up Other Devices

    • Install CueCapture on another device
    • Sign in with the same account
    • Settings sync automatically

How It Works

Initial Sync

When you first enable Cloud Sync:

  1. Current settings are encrypted
  2. Uploaded to secure cloud storage
  3. Available for other devices

Ongoing Sync

Section titled “Ongoing Sync”
  • Settings sync whenever changed
  • Typically within 2-3 seconds
  • Works even when app is minimized

New Device

Section titled “New Device”

When you sign in on a new device:

  1. Cloud settings are downloaded
  2. Decrypted locally
  3. Applied to the app
  4. You’re up and running!

Encryption

Your data is protected with end-to-end encryption:

How Encryption Works

  1. Device key generated on your device
  2. Settings encrypted before upload
  3. Key stored in your account (encrypted)
  4. Only you can decrypt your data

What This Means

Section titled “What This Means”
  • CueCapture servers cannot read your settings
  • Your Notion database IDs are protected
  • No one but you can access your data

Key Recovery

Section titled “Key Recovery”

If you lose access to your devices:

  1. Sign in on a new device
  2. Enter your account password
  3. Encryption key is recovered
  4. Settings are restored

Sync Status

Section titled “Sync Status”

Check sync status in Settings → Cloud Sync:

  • ✅ Synced - All settings up to date
  • 🔄 Syncing - Currently uploading/downloading
  • ⚠️ Pending - Changes waiting to sync
  • ❌ Error - Sync failed (see details)

Manual Sync

Section titled “Manual Sync”

Force a sync manually:

  • Click “Sync Now” in Cloud Sync settings
  • Or press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S

Conflict Resolution

When the same setting is changed on multiple devices:

Automatic Resolution

  • Most recent change wins
  • Based on timestamp
  • Automatic and seamless

Manual Resolution

For complex conflicts:

  1. CueCapture shows conflict dialog
  2. Choose which version to keep
  3. Or merge changes manually

Best practices to avoid conflicts:

  • Sync before making changes
  • Use one device as “primary”
  • Close app on idle devices

Home + Work

  • Configure once at home
  • Sign in at work
  • Same settings automatically

Desktop + Laptop

Fresh Install

Managing Your Data

View Synced Data

Settings → Cloud Sync → “View Synced Data”

See exactly what’s stored in the cloud.

Delete Cloud Data

Section titled “Delete Cloud Data”

Settings → Cloud Sync → “Delete Cloud Data”

Removes all synced data from our servers. Local settings remain.

Export Settings

Settings → Data → Export → “Export Settings”

Download your settings as a file for backup.

Import Settings

Settings → Data → Import → “Import Settings”

Restore settings from an export file.

Privacy & Security

Data Location

  • Encrypted data stored on secure servers
  • No access to your Notion workspace
  • No tracking or analytics

What We Access

We never access:

  • Your Notion API key
  • Your Notion data
  • Your task contents
  • Any personal information

We only store:

  • Encrypted settings blob
  • Account info (email, subscription status)
  • Sync timestamps

Data Retention

  • Data kept while subscription active
  • 30-day grace period after cancellation
  • Data deleted after grace period
  • Can request deletion anytime

Troubleshooting

Sync Not Working

Section titled “Sync Not Working”
  1. Check internet connection
  2. Verify subscription is active
  3. Try “Sync Now” button
  4. Check for error messages
  5. Sign out and back in

Settings Not Appearing

  • Sync may take a few seconds
  • Check sync status indicator
  • Verify signed into same account
  • Try manual sync

Conflict Issues

  • Usually resolves automatically
  • Force sync on one device
  • Let changes propagate
  • Check for pending changes

FAQ

Is my Notion data synced?

No. Cloud Sync only syncs CueCapture settings. Your tasks and projects stay in Notion, synced directly between Notion and each CueCapture installation.

Can I use Cloud Sync without a subscription?

Section titled “Can I use Cloud Sync without a subscription?”

No, Cloud Sync is a Pro feature. Free users can manually export/import settings.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Section titled “What happens if I cancel my subscription?”

Settings remain synced for 30 days. After that, cloud data is deleted. Local settings are unaffected.

Is it really end-to-end encrypted?

Section titled “Is it really end-to-end encrypted?”

Yes. Settings are encrypted on your device before upload. Our servers only store encrypted blobs we cannot read.
