Time Tracking
CueCapture includes a powerful time tracker that lets you log work sessions on any task. Perfect for freelancers tracking billable hours, teams measuring productivity, or anyone curious about where their time goes.
Getting Started
Section titled “Getting Started”Enable Time Tracking
Section titled “Enable Time Tracking”- Open Settings (⚙️)
- Go to Features
- Enable Time Tracking
Optional: Connect Time Logs Database
Section titled “Optional: Connect Time Logs Database”To save time logs to Notion:
- Go to Settings → Notion Databases → Time Logs
- Connect your Time Logs database
Starting a Timer
Section titled “Starting a Timer”On a Task
Section titled “On a Task”- Hover over any task
- Click the timer icon (⏱️)
- Timer starts counting
Or select a task and press T.
Quick Timer
Section titled “Quick Timer”Start tracking without selecting a task:
- Click the timer in the status bar
- Start typing to name the session
- Assign to task later
Timer Display
Section titled “Timer Display”When tracking, you’ll see:
- Running time - HH:MM:SS format
- Task name - What you’re tracking
- Controls - Pause, stop, discard
The timer appears in:
- Widget status bar (always visible)
- Task row (when tracking that task)
- System tray tooltip (background)
Timer Controls

Pause vs Stop
Section titled “Pause vs Stop”- Pause: Temporarily stops the timer, resume anytime
- Stop: Ends the session and saves the time log
Time Logs
Section titled “Time Logs”When you stop a timer, CueCapture creates a time log:

Section titled “View Time Logs”- Task level: Click task → Time tab
- All logs: Settings → Data → Time Logs
- In Notion: Open your Time Logs database
Edit Time Logs
Section titled “Edit Time Logs”- Open the time log (task details or log list)
- Click Edit
- Adjust start time, end time, or duration
- Save changes
Manual Time Entry
Section titled “Manual Time Entry”Add time without using the timer:
- Select a task
- Click timer icon → “Add Manual Entry”
- Enter:
- Start date/time
- Duration (or end time)
- Notes (optional)
- Click Save
Useful for:
- Logging time retroactively
- Adding time from other tools
- Rounding to clean intervals
Time Goals
Section titled “Time Goals”Set daily or weekly time goals:
Daily Goal
Section titled “Daily Goal”- Settings → Time Tracking → Daily Goal
- Set your target (e.g., 6 hours)
- Progress bar shows daily tracked time
Weekly Goal
Section titled “Weekly Goal”- Settings → Time Tracking → Weekly Goal
- Set your target (e.g., 40 hours)
- View progress in the timer panel
Project Goals
Section titled “Project Goals”Set time budgets per project:
- Edit project in CueCapture
- Set “Time Budget” property
- See remaining time vs tracked
Reports & Insights
Section titled “Reports & Insights”Today’s Summary
Section titled “Today’s Summary”Click the timer icon to see:
- Total time today
- Breakdown by task
- Comparison to goal
Weekly Report
Section titled “Weekly Report”View → Reports → Weekly:
- Total hours per day
- Time by project
- Top tasks by time
Export Data
Section titled “Export Data”Export time logs for invoicing:
- Settings → Data → Export
- Select date range
- Choose format (CSV, JSON)
- Download file
Automation
Section titled “Automation”Auto-Start
Section titled “Auto-Start”Configure timer to start automatically:
- When you open a task
- When you focus the widget
- At scheduled times
Settings → Time Tracking → Auto-start
Auto-Stop
Section titled “Auto-Stop”Timer can stop automatically:
- After idle time (configurable)
- At end of workday
- When task is completed
Pomodoro Mode
Section titled “Pomodoro Mode”Built-in Pomodoro timer:
- Enable in Settings → Time Tracking → Pomodoro
- Work interval: 25 min (default)
- Break interval: 5 min (default)
- Long break: 15 min (every 4 pomodoros)
Timer alerts you when intervals end.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard Shortcuts”| Shortcut | Action |

Notion Sync
Section titled “Notion Sync”If connected to a Time Logs database:
What Syncs
Section titled “What Syncs”- ✅ Start/end time
- ✅ Duration

- ✅ Project (if configured)
Sync Timing
Section titled “Sync Timing”- Logs sync when timer stops
- Edits sync within seconds
- Deleted logs sync immediately
Offline Support
Section titled “Offline Support”If offline:
- Logs save locally
- Sync when connection restored
- Conflict resolution automatic
Track Everything
Section titled “Track Everything”Start the timer as a habit, even for small tasks. You’ll be surprised where time goes.
Use Notes
Section titled “Use Notes”Add notes when stopping timer:
- What you accomplished
- Blockers encountered
- Next steps
Review Weekly
Section titled “Review Weekly”Spend 5 minutes reviewing time logs:
- Are you spending time on priorities?
- Any tasks taking too long?
- Patterns to optimize?
Billable Tracking
Section titled “Billable Tracking”For client work:
- Create projects per client
- Use manual entries for clean billing
- Export monthly for invoicing
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Timer Not Starting
Section titled “Timer Not Starting”- Check Time Tracking is enabled
- Verify no timer already running
- Try restarting CueCapture
Time Not Syncing to Notion
Section titled “Time Not Syncing to Notion”- Verify Time Logs database is connected
- Check property mappings
- Look for sync errors in Settings
Duration Seems Wrong
Section titled “Duration Seems Wrong”- Check timezone settings
- Verify start/end times
- Timer may have paused
